Night Shadow

A one-eyed man
with crow in tow
escorted dead men
from the gallows tree.
They follow at a quiet pace
like shadows on
a wall at night.

And no one makes a single sound
not dead men or their escort,
but sometimes a flapping wing
of the crow is heard.

Where the dead go
I don't know
nor where the half-blind leader leads,
but they follow without question
like the shadow
of the crow.
