To Become a Crow

Take you yourself to a lonely place
in the last slanted rays
of the evening sun.

Strip you yourself of outer garb
remove clothe, leather,
gold from finger.

Extract you yourself of surrounding skin
exterior confinement;
face of your birth.

Take from below moist black earth,
confine in a vessel of transparent crystal
exposed, for one full month,
to the changing light of the moon.

Crack you then the container
removing that which is contained,
weave it into midnight wings
and wear them like a crow.
